I dunno why, but the Komeiji Sisters are exceptionally beautiful to me. They're so odd, yet picturesque. For them to be considered 'plain' compared to the rest of the Touhou cast, both Satori and Koishi somehow stand out. Even with the likes of Kaguya, Byakuren, Seiga, and many others being high tier in (artistic) feminine beauty, these beasts somehow catch my attention often.
Sure, they're 'meh' girls at first but damn... check out a few articles and wikis about them. Listen to a few themes and scope a few PVs and such. Soon enough, their charm is in abundance. Sure they're cute and all (especially the arts of them being non-loli) but there's so much charisma about the Komeijis that it's frightening.
Satori is beautiful (sexy even). Koishi is adorable. Damn, there is something downright sinister about the girls. Maybe I'm not in my right mind when I wrote this (yea, smoked a blunt a few hours ago). Still, they're both intriguing,charismatic and in a sense, eye-candy. And this is coming from a guy that usually avoids hentai and overly loli (and moe) art and archtypes.

Mate, I think you may not be understanding something here. Every single Touhou girl is exceptionally beautiful, interesting, and wonderful.
And I think you have your 'hentai' definitions mixed up.

Whoops. The hentai part. Kinda came out wrong, didn't it? Well actually, I usually avoid artwork that are marked Explicit in nature (usually futanari, Touhou girls getting doinked by faceless guys and each other-- traumatized). That, and artwork that are TOO moe that it's enough that it will give ya cavities.

Same, I steer clear of that stuff. I don't know, it makes me sick to my stomach, the nonsensical and depraved things people imagine. But I don't avoid the diabetes causing, HNNGGHHHHHHHH inducing ones. Those are a damn major plus.

Exceptionally beautiful gals in Touhou. True. Byakuren, Kaguya, Seiga, Keine are more beautiful than the Komeijis by miles. But I dunno why they stand out the most to me. Hopefully it's not a subconscious trickery by the beloved Koishi.

EDITED: I dunno why but Byakuren holds a special place in my heart. It's just that saintly aura of hers and that genuine, unconditional love. . . and This song of hers . . . Of course the other girls do as well, but just saying.
I don't want to get into an educated discussion of why people are afraid of beings like Satori, but people are afraid of her because she can read their minds. Simple like that.
The 5th grade loli joke is because of her design. It looks like a little kid's school uniform. People realized this and it took off from there.
I kind of see Satori as a lady, but I think of them as being the same (biological) age as the Scarlet sisters with Satori as old a Remi and Koishi as Flandre.
