    The saddest strip yet.

Aya's ref shirt is gone and she's back in her normal garb.

    ;_;

Edit: Oh wait, I guess it's been that way for a while. Never mind!

    But it's still sad.

    Beaten? Really?

I love Okuu as much as the next guy for being a star spamming bird brain, but in this series, she's a one-trick pony that her opponents literally have to let her use. And this is Suika here, an oni, a natural brawler.

    I'm feeling kind of melancholy.

I think the "I'M BIG NOW RAR" thing kinda took some out of her as well.

Means we'll probably get to see Sakuya's Drunken Maid Style in action.

Both Suika and Sakuya are out of the ring. If one of them isn't back in really fast they'll loose...

Finally, Suika has been rescued from the boring invincible pile. If Team Sky can work through Sakuya's hax defense, we might actually have a fight here.

Aya's doing a great job. She stays out of it and avoids being a deciding factor.

Yep, fast counting is what's bad in a ref... you want a ref that will slow count so they don't count the match out early.

Being big made Suika a perfect target for a critical hit to the chin with a super move.

Recall that Meiling knocked Sanae out with a single simple strike to the chin.

Okuu seemed to have exhausted herself to take her out (though still she can use her powers with her remaining limbs and whatever else she has), but what to say about Tenshi? After all the damage that was done to her, she can still fight and even stop Sakuya from assisting Suika (wasn't Sakuya the one with grappling techniques?). Also, Sakuya's parry has one (but not limited to) known weakness which they've found (and complained about, like the whiner Tenshi is, of all people).

the situation looks really disadvantageous to Sakuya: alone, their DPS hasn't been entirely disabled (until proven otherwise), and fighting against a Tenshi which will more likely forget the damage that she had received and play as if the match started again (minus the "not knowing" how to beat Sakuya's gimmick, and maybe one lock technique or two). It would be funny, though, to have Sakuya defeat their peach bomber combo with her parry, and have Tenshi suffer Okuu's attack.

Lastly, Okuu's plan had merit, but also deceit, making Suika believe that Okuu's full power was put into the throw. Just pointing this out, in case Okuu tries to play the "good heroes" card again.

Noted, but it's just going by the judges chatter. Since she's been going for the punches until that point, I'm inclined to think she was always going for the punch. Throwing Suika up high and making sure she goes into freefall accomplishes two things: making certain dodging and countering would be so much less effective, and to reclaim her aerial superiority. Since she also said "this is my full power" back there and flying fast is only a partial demonstration her strength in the arena ...

She is still either bias or crap at DQing people. Although I'm good with her being crap at DQing (I love hardcore matches) I hate her for the moukou and keine vs kaguya and eirin match. After that huge amount of bias, she will always be a crap referee in my mind.

Crap referees are a staple in sports entertainment, so Aya's doing an excellent job.

There was no deceit. If Suika hadn't countered the Dark Shooting Star, what would Okuu do? She'd just continue it at full power, because it's still a good move. It was a real threat, which Suika had to answer.

People seem to have the idea that this is like Olympic wrestling, with real rules that the refs try to enforce. This is pro-wrestling, the rules are hardly guidelines. It's not Aya's job to DQ anyone... the refs job in pro-wrestling is pretty much to act blind, deaf, and stupid, allowing people to get away with just about anything until the match has pretty much decided itself. Aya does this very well... she's not biased, the rules are lax for everyone, but it's just that some of the competitors understand the actual rules better than others and can take better advantage of that and the metagame.

    You are forgetting something.

Meiling is a youkai. Which are naturally stronger than humans in many ways.

Sanae is a human. In a contest like this, humans are generally weak, and fairly fragile. Hell, most of their opponents have to hold back to avoid outright killing the humans.

Meanwhile, Suika is an Oni. Which are built like tanks.

At least the refs in the WWE and TNA get knocked out or distracted before being blind and stupid. That and she was very bias in the Moukou vs Kaguya match.

This; they seem to try to do their jobs usually unless it's a guest ref, then you'd have to hope you never did anything to piss him off as he can and will be biased.

Actually, Sanae as of Touhou 13 was officially declared in a state of both human and god. I forgot the term but it was used to describe the Japanese Emperor's believed divinity as well.

More importantly, this doesn't hold true in this series, and in fact, miko species in particular were shown to be super resilient. Recall that the automatic miko barrier was a plotpoint, and Reimu had perfected it to such a degree that almost nothing other than brain damage and ramming her vagina really phased her.

The idea of the chin hit is that the force wave causes paralysis on the inside, bypassing tough skin and barrier.
