Bulbapedia states that based on the English name, Chespin is a combination of chestnut and pin. It may also be from chinkapin, the name of some species of chestnut.

Harimaron is a combination 蝟 harinezumi (hedgehog), 針 hari (needle), and marron (French for chestnut).

Could be an armadillo. Grass/Rock Type?

I like the overbite.

Cmon Gamefreak, throw us grass-type users a bone, make this starter have an interesting typing or something.

This little fellow is my 2nd favorite starter (next to Fennekin), and I can imagin that he'll be a bro in his final form.
