Megamanning attacks? No one plot haxs like a Hakurei alright. PEM is going to have to unleash their asspull jutsu just to keep up at this rate.

I mean what should have been a rather even match is turning into a curb stomp.

I confess, the reason that it took so long for me to get around to translating the last episode was because I couldn't believe the Reimu-must-be-invincible-ness on display on the these two strips.

And for those that are curious, the comments over at Pixiv can be summed up as 'Well what do you expect? Reimu is a genius'

Wow Reimu's official dislike for training is manifested here by copying everyone's moves and she somehow mastered them. That is one hell of a copy ability there.

Yeah Yuyuko you just keep eating you lovable and adorable bottomless black hole. xD Hey wait she is eating a Snickers bar? Thats awesome.

To be fair, Mokou is a good punching-bag. Easy to land new moves on her. Kaguya's someone that is a better match for Reimu's temperament/laziness.

If that was your first thought you may have not been ready my friend.

I honestly expected someone to pull the move mimic at some point If it's full on hand to hand combat it happens at some point without fail.

Since this ability would be based on Observation/Intuition wouldn't post #916184 be foreshadowing this? At the very least it meant that Reimu would be gaining tricks by observing other's matches.

My bet is that Kaguya/Mokou will win, purely based on Reimu showing off her capabilities so early.

Dei already showed us he was using the more canonical aka overpowered side of her for the later rounds.

This is setting up Remi to lose the match to balance things out with Sakuya.

Immortals vs HS just makes for the most interesting balance as the last two teams.

There is no proof of this setting up Red 75% to lose at all. The only proof of a team losing was PEM's entrance, if they have an entrance THAT over the top in a Semi-final match there is nothing that can be better then a carnival from dreamland which foreshadows THEIR defeat.

Then again who knows, ever since Mokou's match with Kaguya in Round 1 many loses that were meant to happen were denied horribly such as Team Moriya in round two and Heavenly Sky in round 3.

now Reimu's team is the boring invincible one? Suspension of disbelief is shattered, now? (tip: HS is going to win the tournament, no matter how. How's that *not* boring, and *not* against suspension of disbelief?)

Having a predictable outcome is different from a team that makes all tension in a fight disappear in the first two strips. Reimu has effectively robbed ALL drama and excitement from this.

To be honest I haven't seen such an overpowering start in this series like this. Not even Yuugi/Orin vs Ran/Chen started this bad.

It's a general problem of Red 75%'s matches: There's no good flow of conflict. It's almost disappointing to see PEM (those who defeated the Higan team) take such a worfing.

It's too soon to tell how HS will ultimately do at this point though if it turns out Red 75% wins the whole tournament, the fan backlash will be pretty big as it's beyond predictable in terms of final results.

I have to protest against this notion of what a "genius" or "strategist" when people keep using these words... (They do not mean what you think it means.)

"Relying upon inborn abilities" may be a strategy, but that doesn't make you any more of a strategist than a marathon runner having a strategy of "practice running a lot every day until you get better". Yukari, Patchouli, Eirin, Nazrin, and Yuyuko when she's not being fanon-Flanderized into being an idiot are strategists. Reimu is too lazy to come up with a plan other than just plain relying upon her own overwhelming strength. (Probably because she's never needed to be smart before.)

Likewise, it's no more "genius" to be born with overwhelming magical power than it is for a lion to be born larger and stronger than a gazelle, or a fish a genius at swimming compared to a human. A musical genius can play an instrument or compose music using the same tools as someone else, but with a more natural and intuitive understanding of the art. You can only call it genius if we're talking about something in which what you are comparing are people who have the same theoretical capacity to act or create. Marisa is a magical genius by Touhou standards, since she learns abilities she has no natural predilection for. She's like a human learning to swim or compose music. Reimu's like a fish learning to swim - it's something she was always born with, so you can't even call it a "talent".

Besides which, this isn't canon Reimu at all, either, since Reimu doesn't copy the moves of others (or show an interest in doing so), she simply has a seeming genetic memory for all sorts of magic spells. Like a worm inheriting memory, she just got all the superpowers of previous generations for free without effort, which is why she's so lazy.

This, however, is just fanon bullshit. She's simply getting newly-invented superpowers for no reason.

I am talking about the whole theme from all the recent fights.

Their entrance was hardly restrained for any match so I can't see that being a sign of anything on way or the other.

Remi is the one with pride and the weak link in the team. Them getting to the final just to me doesn't give them the life lesson each match has more or less had.

Then again who knows, ever since Mokou's match with Kaguya in Round 1 many loses that were meant to happen were denied horribly such as Team Moriya in round two and Heavenly Sky in round 3.

Well round 2 is interesting since we really don't know exactly what Dei had planned with regards to that round.

Lost servants should not have gotten out of round 2. Dei had to cheese that match to allow it to be a tie so that Underground could drop out for HS.

Lost servants winning round 3 would have been utter nonsense. The mistake Dei made was to make it seem so lopsided for most of the fight because he overdid Sakuya's ability.

Would have loved to see Scarlet 200% vs Lost Servants though.

This fight seems to be starting out much the same way as that fight and in the end we all know you got the nonsense victory.

It's too soon to tell how HS will ultimately do at this point though if it turns out Red 75% wins the whole tournament, the fan backlash will be pretty big as it's beyond predictable in terms of final results.

While it is still possible for HS not to win, dei has given them all the classic " zero to hero" attributes.

You do have a point on the copying I will give you that.

On the flip side you also pointed something important out. Her existing super powers would make things less interesting. At least this way dei can use the old plot device of one side making up new moves to beat the near invincible foe.

Reimu is too lazy to come up with a plan other than just plain relying upon her own overwhelming strength. (Probably because she's never needed to be smart before.)

at least (this) Reimu seemed to study her opponents (she copied two of Sanae's moves: the barrier and the distraction trick -- but needs to copy the showmanship and charisma, which are more important in terms of winning chances in this tournament than actual combat abilities). This Reimu seems to have two "flaws": to be greedy (like other fanon Reimus) and to play less mindlessly, like a fighting game tournament player (that behavior will reward her with a defeat).

Canon Reimu, though, doesn't have this urge to earn money, even though she doesn't do her duties well (practice exorcism, attract people to her shrine, or gain the trust of people, who are afraid of the youkai which keep visiting the shrine). She's usually lazy and carefree (for example, in her dialogue with Rumia in EoSD), but can get a bit more serious at times (during incidents, or if she's in a bad mood -- Eirin's chapter in CiLR -- or if she's convinced to train harder -- by Yukari or Kasen.)

Speaking of copying things, it's indeed a valid strategy, as
    - it increases the amount of options one has and is able to respond to more situations and more ways (than one) to respond to said situations
    - likewise, it increases the amount of options the opponent has to watch for (at times the opponent may try to focus on the wrong options), limiting their offense/defense options. Even if the opponent knew everything (or most of the things) the first player can do, said player can mix up his/her options so that the opponent doesn't know (and ideally, has difficulty reacting to) exactly which option will be used among the ones he knows how to counter.

Still, copying skills doesn't warrant a win (this also applies to people copying moves from Kinnikuman or Street Fighter), if the opponent can apply his/her strong points and exploit the weaknesses/mistakes of the first player. Reimu has shown (in this comic) to have a good intuition or perception at times (she probably faked her attempt to kill Nitori, and probably thought about her proposal to Kaguya beforehand -- who knows, it can be just her carefree side speaking instead), besides her naturally high magical abilities (compensated with her lazy attitude).

    -Truncated for length-

However, my point is that studying her opponents isn't something canon Reimu actually does - she just doesn't care. ("No time for small fry!")

She only gets serious about anything when either someone is directly coercing her (such as those examples of Kasen or Yukari you mentioned, but also the likes of Patchy in the start of SA,) or else if she thinks there will be worse consequences if she doesn't act. (This is generally what "incident resolution" means - to just keep the peace by whatever the easiest means possible would be, generally just shooting everyone and asking questions later.)

Likewise, UFO seems to heavily disagree with you on whether or not canon Reimu is money-hungry, since Reimu B from UFO is explicitly treasure hunting as her reason for resolving the incident. (Reimu A is just incident resolving - and the same can be said of Marisa A/B, since Marisa A is just incident-resolving, so Reimu and Marisa are put on the same level in terms of greed in that game.)

There's nothing about canon Reimu that indicates she's a skill copier - that's Marisa and Satori's shtick.

It is, again, just pulling a superpower out of the author's ass to make Reimu even more powerful than she already was. (And canon Reimu is not invincible, either... In canon, there is no overwhelmingly powerful super-character, and basically all the high-level characters are basically on par with one another. There's also no distinct canon ending to any of the games - Reimu A endings being "canon" are just another fanon myth, and there are things like references to the Scarlet Team ending of IN in SSiB that imply Scarlet Team's victory as just as canon as Reimu's.)

As far as this fanon goes, for that matter, yes, she faked her attempt to kill Nitori. That's what made it a threat. She threatened to kill someone to get what she wanted. That's not a mark of genius, that's a mark of common thuggery. Any brute can come up with a plan to threaten violence to get what they want on the spot, so it's not like that is much argument for strategic finesse. There's also no proof Reimu put any serious thought into her ultimatum to win - the only real motive she may have had (aside from her ultimatum being what she honestly was thinking) was to distract Remilia, so she just did the first crazy, distracting thing that came to mind, and made a haughty proclamation without actually thinking anything about it through. That, again, doesn't speak volumes about her strategic genius. (Or rather, can be interpreted to speak volumes about her lack thereof.)

I am being dead serious and I hate lying, and are you saying I can't call something bullshit even though I got over it? Thats like saying I cannot like Lost Servants (which is my top favorite team since they had the best character development then all the other teams combined) because everyone else hates them for being "dull and boring" which apparently everyone IS saying.

However, my point is that studying her opponents isn't something canon Reimu actually does - she just doesn't care. ("No time for small fry!")

and my point was to avoid talking about how Tenshi fits this exact same description (but worse than in Reimu's case), of not caring, not bothering making a game plan, instead just reacting to everything that's thrown at them (and most of the times not even needing to react to, thanks to her innate stamina and rock-like hardness). Autopiloting much?

Canonically, Reimu (but not limited to her; any "incident solver", "imitators" included, can try to tackle on "incident causers" no matter how many continues or restarts are needed -- it's stated by the spellcard rules that the "incident solver" can try again as much times as needed). Even in SSiB, Reimu seemed to use her intuition against Yorihime (but lost, because Yorihime had so many options and much more experience, plus, Reimu and her friends were being incident causers that time). It must also be noted that she doesn't impose her will on others through her powers, at least not outside incident solving.

Likewise, UFO seems to heavily disagree with you on whether or not canon Reimu is money-hungry, since Reimu B from UFO is explicitly treasure hunting as her reason for resolving the incident. (Reimu A is just incident resolving - and the same can be said of Marisa A/B, since Marisa A is just incident-resolving, so Reimu and Marisa are put on the same level in terms of greed in that game.)

neither UFO nor Reimu getting her hands on ghost-made gold could be considered indicators of obsession towards money. It's a fact that Byakuren is better at attracting followers and/or maintaining her temple than Reimu is (as seen in one of UFO's endings, it may even be one of Reimu's, don't remember), which kind of fuels the "Reimu always poor" meme. But, like other memes, they don't need to reflect accurately a character's personality. Some memes can (for example) generate from a deviation of one's normal/expected behavior (for example, tsundere Alice). Some people do it because it seems fun to do, to explore new ideas and having fun in the process.
By the way, Marisa is canonically a kleptomaniac, and even forgets magical items she "borrowed", to the point that some of them react with others.

There's nothing about canon Reimu that indicates she's a skill copier - that's Marisa and Satori's shtick.

well, the same can be said for those copying Kinnikuman moves and Street Fighter moves (unless I'm missing other series as well. Also, other characters such as Sakuya have also copied moves and used them against the one who first used them). It could be argued that she (Reimu) had good intuition for figuring out which moves were more easily copied while still remaining effective, but I was more concerned about the advantage that Reimu has as someone who can use her powers within the playing field better than her opponents can, than the fact that she (and mostly everyone else) can reproduce moves and practice them (Patchy managed to copy Reimu's barrier). I'm not seeing Reimu being able to grow large like Suika, though.

Reimu A endings being "canon" are just another fanon myth

doesn't make UFO Reimu B's ending more canon than Reimu A's (in fact, iirc the Extra Stage setting uses neither of the Reimu's endings)

As far as this fanon goes, for that matter, yes, she faked her attempt to kill Nitori. That's what made it a threat. She threatened to kill someone to get what she wanted. That's not a mark of genius, that's a mark of common thuggery.

or, alternatively, it can be seen as taking advantage of the opponent's own strategy (attacking Reimu's balance as a way to avoid having to deal with her armor).

(Or rather, can be interpreted to speak volumes about her lack thereof.)

she has been shown to be bluffing on both her attempt to kill Nitori, and on that she was going to fight anyways. She has been acting like a cool-tempered, rather overly perceptive Reimu (in contrast with the WaHH Reimu which didn't knew that the ghost-made gold was poisonous and with the CiLR Reimu that was tricked by Eirin into believing that Reisen II was a tanuki).

Because, calling something bullshit means you *haven'* gotten over it. If you have indeed gotten over Sakuya and Sukia`s lose, then you wouldn`t be continuously saying they had the best Character advancement (which they haven`t, Heaven Sky has had more main plot time then those two.) Or that their loss was bullshit. I mean this is fucking pathetic.

They DID have the best character development and HS had NONE. Have you even been paying attention to this comic? Sakuya at first only treated her partners as tools just so she can be a part of this tournament to face Remilia, after learning of this mistake in their match with Yuugi and Rin she wanted to make things right with Suika and Koakuma by advancing to the next round and even forgetting about her promise to face Remilia in the finals but this was denied thanks to losing to HS which made her break down.

And although I said before I am not going into this again I will do does just so I can screw this in that head of yours, as for their loss being bullshit HS received more beatings and got tired more then LS did and Tenshi was brutally beaten to a bloody pulp, especially to her head and her back with the constant assaults enough to get TKO'd regardless of her tank defense but she wasn't. And that double pile drive to her head into the Ceiling and the Ring mat which had an increase in speed thanks to Suika in her giant form was MORE then enough to take her down but she WASN'T and that page when they hit the mat was even labeled "Its decided" and when Tenshi performed that Crossrider Suplex with all the damage to her back she shouldn't have even be ABLE to use it due to immense pain since using a Suplex involves stretching your back backwards. And the result of all of HS's pain and fatigue was showed when they were in the locker room and LS was in better shape then them. Now tell me: How is that not bullshit?

You seriously know NOTHING about me so you have no right to say ANYTHING about me. Whats fucking pathetic is assuming something entirely false about someone you don't even know. I have gotten over this and you just think I am full of shit. I been incredibly patient with you during all this and I am trying to be nice here and I don't even down vote your comments, but this is seriously starting to annoy me now.

I read this article about homogeneity of football tactic
    https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/world-cup-2022-squad-previews-playing-styles-b2214643.html
“International audiences are highly unlikely to see teams play in a distinctive “national style” any more.”
“If you look at these models federations use - ‘what it takes to win’ - we benchmark ourselves against teams that qualify consistently,”
I remember reading this almost a decade ago and commentator say about Reimu not using a style of her own.

She is then countered in turn by a palm strike!!
It's returned in the exact same Kevin style!!
...she's using the techniques she saw in the previous matches?
If she has indeed developed mastery from observation alone...
...out of all of the possible predictions...
    Unbelievable!

..."will not work" is a gross understatement.
While it's not as if we did not predict this...
...we've hit the worst possible case, apparently.

"A move will not work twice on a Saint" is what they say. This appears to be a reference to Saint Seiya.
