I mean, I thought of the same thing when I watched the scene and was baffled at the animators' bravado to handle it like that, because, come on... It's painfully obvious.

To be honest, I never saw the scene in that way when I first watched it. Maybe I got too wrapped-up in the moment, but what I saw was Mikasa chiding Eren on his foolishness. It didn't occur to me that the scene could be joked about in this manner until recently. I'm not entirely against the edit, and I can see where it's coming from. My reaction to it is a lack of amusement, hence why I find it a stretch.
