I imagine Witches to be air superiority fighters, poorly equipped for ground attacks: they have no bombs, missiles, or heavy weapons to defeat armor with, only machine guns to use in strafing runs.

Now, a couple of Vimana from Simoun, that would be legitimately scary - the Iron Rimajon functions pretty much as a MOAB or similar warhead, making them quite suited for ground attacks needing heavy firepower.

Unless that witch is a ground attack witch like Mami or Friederike from Witches of the Sphinx. They were armed heavy weapons which were the 40 mm Bofors and the 37 mm cannon respectively. Judging from the picture, I see that Rudel's striker unit appears to be the JU 87G which means those things attached to the striker units are 37 mm cannons but I could be wrong

No, you're correct, they're 37mm cannons. Her Archtype, Hans Rudel took out a number of ships, including a Soviet Battleship with them.

After all, there is a reason StuKa "Screamers", as they were nicknamed for their Jericho's Trumpets, were the most feared dive bomber of the Axis forces.

In short; Ground Neuroi are screwed when Rudel's in the air.

Let's just have the ground forces be provided by the Valkyria Chronicles universe and the air superiority provided by the Last Exile Universe... Can't hurt to have some Exiles and Valkyrias as well...

Just not Anatoray warships providing artillery support, their design really suck against ground targets- unless you count the Urbanus-Class. I can live with Anatoray vanships though, as they are the best save for the Guildsmen.
