The internet tells me it has to do with their construction, similar to how labware is expensive. Gotta get it just right to be sturdy, conduct heat properly, etc.

And, I suppose, because there's prestige associated. Not unlike Apple products. :V

Fuck that expensive shit, IKEA cookware, everything you need for less than a hundred euros.
