Is that scope attached to some kind of side-mount? Small'ish scope on a M249... Ehh?

I'm guessing the scope is offset to allow for use of iron sights as well.

I'm not sure the Picatinny rail system has such a rail available...
The artist probably just improvised it, given that this weapon looks like a mish-mash of the (tagged) M249, the Daewoo K3, the H&K MG4, and the FN Minimi: the skeleton stock and the offset scope seems copied from the Minimi, the carrying handle's shape is from the MG4, while the stem is from the M249, the barrel length is from the K3, the pistol grip is from the K3 as well (based on the angle), while the magazine well and the charging handle are unlike anything at all, but still resembles the M249 most closely.

That sight rail is used on Minimis in French service; it interfaces with SCROME optics - this one looks like perhaps a SCROME LTE. (Incidentally, this kind of belt box can also be found on French Minimis, although not 100% green like this, I don't think.) The straight carry handle is also found on many older Minimis - angled, folding handles were introduced later, with an update to the US M249. Pistol grip can't be from a K3, as those have M16-style checkering on the side instead of horizontal grooves. Charging handle's normal Minimi as well (just the ejection port cover is open for some reason) and the magwell's on the other side and not visible.

Long story short, it's just an older Minimi in a fairly unusual configuration.

(Also, it's nice to see artists getting bipods right. A lot seem to be under some weird impression that they only open to 40 degrees or so.)

I'll admit I didn't pay much attention to the texture of the grip, I just saw that it's angled further back than usual on an M249, and I was going by the latest iteration.
And yes, what I assumed to be the magwell is more like a suspension point. On that point, can the Minimi be fed from STANAG mags, like the M249? I couldn't find anything on that with a quick search...

Still, although the M249 is a Minimi adaptation, that tag should be changed.

Oh hey, we have an fn_minimi tag. Didn't know that - changed.

Yeah, regular Minimis can fire from STANAGs. I think the only ones that can't are SPWs and Mk.46s (and Maximis and Mk.48s, obviously).

The Minimi and variants like the M249 have a STANAG compatible magwell at about 7 o'clock.
