I appreciate your work but you really should pay more attention to the meaning. You have many parts translated far from original meanings there. That makes people misunderstand the story a lot, some would not understand it at all. Please be careful next time.

It helps that there are FOUR Kanmusu destroyers whose name starts with "Hatsu". And she's the middle one. Hatsuyuki has the "burnout" personality, and is in the first four, so she has some recognition just as being Fubuki's groupie in the official manga. (The only place the "main character" matters, and even then, just as a way of setting up Ise, Akagi, or the other destroyer's jokes.) Hatsuharu is the one that has the overly-orante old-fashioned Japanese tone. Hatsukaze is the one that clings to Myoukou-onee-san.

Hatsushimo died off-screen in some completely worthless tragedy that had no symbolic value like it would have had if she'd gone down in Ten-Go. Hastushimo is just some earnest destroyer in the middle of a pool of earnest destroyers with nothing beyond being forgotten to give her any sort of calling whatsoever.

Frankly, she's lucky to be remembered for being forgotten...

Hatsushimo was the last IJN destroyer to be sunk in the war, she was struck by a naval mine while trying to outrun planes from TF-38. She sunk on July 30, 1945... very-very unfortunate.

Like Wakaba (which both participated during the Aleutians Campaign AKA 'The Forgotten Battle'), her character and design is pretty much generic that's why people usually forgets the two. Though Wakaba has this cool personality but her character design is very common.

Edit: Fix a mistake, Nenohi was the one who sunk in the Aleutians and not Wakaba, Wakaba sunk from an airstrike during the Battle of Leyte Gulf.

Well, Wakaba has a minor meme about her "being a masochist" because her medium damage line is, "It hurts... but I don't mind it." (It's meant to be her being too "cool" to give a shit about being shot up, but it makes her the Tenshi of KanColle.)

The two guys that did the artwork on a lot of those destroyers kind of led to a lot of the jokes at destroyer's expense, though. Most of the early destroyers look pretty similar, even the ones with goofy personalities, like Akebono, Sazanami, and even mangaka-favorite Inazuma don't look particularly vibrant. Worse, a lot of the early destroyers have really similar "earnest" personalities that make them basically interchangeable. (Hence "main character" Fubuki's inability to be distinguished from other destroyers in her class. I.E. post #1577965)

The destroyers that are being added more recently notably have a policy of "Every other destroyer gets boobs!" (So that it isn't just poor Ushio getting sexually harrassed, Yuugumo, Naganami, Urakaze, and Hamakaze were added in.) They also have more distinct artwork and obvious gimmicks they like to spout. ("Look! I draw things! Some guy onboard me once drew a picture of a sinking carrier, so my ship's whole history and personality can be summed up with art! Next up is... Let's see, her name sounds like "dancing", so let's make her a dancing freak! Next is a girl who sank in Ten-Go, but that's too depressing, so let's just slap a giant rack on her, and call it a day.")
