It actually kinda is, at least in engines that use refined fuels. As throttle settings rise above a certain point, more fuel is injected to keep the engine cool. Instead of burning it absorbs heat and evaporates or leaves in the exhaust carrying the heat. Thus why water/methanol injection is a thing.
