That's because Sendai believes that Night Battles really are night battles, and doesn't get the double-entendre.
(I went looking for one of the comics where she doesn't get it, and Ironbottom beat me to the pucnh...)
Basically, canonically, she goes berserk at 8 PM looking for enemies (and will presume an admiral asking for a "night battle" is looking for a practice match) until her sisters lock her in a straight jacket and force her to sleep, so nobody has a "night battle" with her.

This is what I love about Danbooru. I read an interesting fancomic and in the comments I find links to other interesting fancreations that seems all contected to each other. It's like theres some spagetti mutliverse with interconnected head canons.
