The lyrics were made by Lieutenant-Commander Sakai Yasurou. The music was done by the band leader Iwai Shigekazu. Because Yamato was a top secret military project, the song wasn't recorded until 1976 (31 years after the war) and thus was predated by Uchuu Senkan Yamato (the latter was made in 1974).
