Briefly put, we try to give our ship girls about thirty seconds or so to make an impression. The "profile" you read is something very similar to that of the library intro, but expanded slightly and tied in with the world of Pacific as a whole. We do this to mostly form a contrasting perspective between two different sources - the ship girl herself and STEC - so that you can get an idea as to what she's really like.

STEC is the organization that is responsible for the USN ship girls in our work. I'll spare you the details here and save it for the book, but it's a pretty reasonably big part of the USN in Pacific's world design. It possesses several ship-girl specific naval bases scattered around the world for counter-abyssal operations, and it possess not only its own research arm, but also its own intelligence operations as well. If you see me refer to a STEC operative or a STEC commander in casual conversation on the forums, it is probably an inside joke to supporters of our work.

STEC actually stands for Special Task & Evaluation Command, though I've noticed that Chinese fanfiction writers consistently use Strategic Test & Evaluation Command, so ... *shrugs* I guess we'll see. Maybe it was a misunderstanding behind the connotations of the organization? They saw "evaluation" and assume it must be test related? xD

Now, onto Nevada. I freely admit, Nevada probably deserves a rewrite. She was the first that I penned and the last to be edited. In either case, I was struck by how tough it was to provide both historical information (since the ship girls here has awareness of their "past" experiences as a real USN warship, after all!) and biographical information all in less than two hundred and fifty words.

Nonetheless, I think she's actually pretty easy to understand. She's an old guard harkening back to the old days, where grit and toughness won the day instead of fancy gizmos and boys in white coats. Not quite no-nonsense like Northampton, but rather down to earth. She gets along well with girls like Narwhal or Houston. :)

About the "dual-wielding granny" reference, it should be Zhao-Hong Wenguo(趙洪文國). She was a famed personality during the WWII times as a warrior and army-founder in Sino-Japanese war, portrayed as a dual-wielding granny(she was over 50yo in 1930's).

Trivia: While she resembles the SoDaks somewhat (especially from a distance), USS Nevada was a reasonably successful modernization considering how she was basically resurrected from the Pearl Harbor attack. - Incidentally, her new guns were recovered from Okie's wreck... - Nevada was quite active in her role of providing supporting fire. While she never got to fight a French battleship, she did have a five-hour long artillery duel with a German fortress armed with guns salvaged from said French battleship. Five hours later, she remain unscratched as the Germans surrendered. - Several of her voice lines (only one of which are shown here) reference the 4th Infantry Battalion, including their famous warcry, "Steadfast and loyal!" (Nevada spent a lot of time over on the European front. Given that our ship girls are uniquely human, it's very likely that the spirit of camaraderie would rub off on her.
USS Nevada, sir! First super-dreadnought of the U.S. Navy, sir! The equipment? Yeah, it's old. So what? If it works, it means I can fight. To begin, I was the first of many things. First to use fuel oil. First to use "all or nothing" styled armor, and my turret scheme will become the standard for all future American battleships years to come. The navy learned a lot from me. We had both successes and failures, and I entered service in 1916. Nearly thirty years later, that day. I remembered it pretty well. Yeah, I took a couple of bombs and torpedoes, but I stll fought. I only got beached because they thought I was going to block the strait. As if! I may be old, but I'm no pensioner. When they patched me up I went right back to fighting. Was at Normandy. I fought the Nazis at Toulon. Shelled Japs at Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Those guys didn't scare me one bit, so let's see how tough the abyssals really are. STEC notes that the historical Nevada was a ship that performed admirably in her supporting roles. On D-day, USS Nevada was capable of suppressing German strongpoints up to 31 kilometers away, yet she fired with an accuracy that was capable of distinguishing friend from foe within a mere 600 yards. This precision remains a consistent hallmark of her shooting, and is demonstrated repeatedly across all her engagements with the abyssal fleet to date. Small wonder that the other ship girls go to her for shooting advice... Humble, tough, brave, STEC recommends Nevada to receive modernization at the earliest convenience. Her shelling accuracy is absolutely devastating - especially in context of her severely outdated equipment - and deserves immediate priority for modernization.
Author's notes: November: While I didn't quite know what to do with her, I really wanted to draw a cute girl with twin pigtails. Her outfit was inspired by seeing a cosplayer who left a very deep impression on me, while her twin pistols was the result of much feedback that we've received, since lots of people want to see USN ship girls use firearms. So I gave her twin pistols. Everything worked out, though, we ended up with a quiet, cute and nice (note: the Chinese term here uses "obedient", but the connotation is your general "girl next door") girl with the twintails that we were looking for. Morgane: The historical USS Nevada really wasn't a big ship, so as a result, we designed her to look younger than her contemporaries. Don't forget that in our setting, while a ship girl can disappear or die, they'll never really grow old. As such, Nevada reflects a bit of research carried out personally. Reputation-wise, WWII Nevada was really known for for its down to earth and honest people rather than Vegas, with all the vices we associate with today. Zeroblaze: (Joke here is specific to the Chinese audience, as there appears to be some kind of dual-wielding granny action hero that I'm not aware of.)
