Yes, W Island is Wake Island and I hope that the anime won't follow the real war history, or it will be too many sinking.
Well, historically it was first casualty. Then next is Shouhou and Kikuzuki. But, I think it will be straight Midway battle, so "Goodbye, Akagi, Kaga, Souryuu, Hiryuu"
Need a rest first before the next shock death. You can only throw in shock so much before audience got dulled by it. And for 13 episodes, can't fit too much. Besides, if it's shock they want, even killing Akagi won't do much now. They'd get more of the "true nature of Soul Gem" effect by bringing back Kisaragi through construction.

In just about the most embarrassing way possible, she was attacked by just four fighters armed with the equivalent of air dropped firecrackers (100 pound bombs), she was probably hit once... and proceeded to explode and sink with all hands from a 'critical hit' to her depth charge racks.

Notice that there isn't any personification of pearl harbor. Maybe there will, along with the anime's episode attack on Isolated Island Oni(Wake Island).

I think we get Midway (maybe even Fubuki will be the one, who scuttle Akagi). Following some early stages of Guadalcanal with Yayoi dies on Mochizuki's hands. And all ends at Cape Esperance, where Fubuki was sunk.

And to think this is directed by Kusakawa Keizou I'm expecting a "Good End" twist or something in the end.He did make a Madoka like anime with a good ending *cough* Gen' ei *cough* Still waiting for the confirmation who did the storyboard on eps 3

Not really, no. A lot of magical girl shows/stories take place in a fucked up or were once fucked up world/universe.
They can also be rather classic happy show but with a bad end like Gigi/Magical Princess Minky Momo if my memory serves me well something like being killed by a running truck

Actually, the first Japanese surface ship lost in the war was the destroyer Hayate, who hasn't even appeared in either the game or anime. Kisaragi was sunk hours later, while trying to retreat.
