there's strong evidence to suggest the story from about chapter 4 onward is nothing but a product of one of Susomu's fragmented psyche; Due to multiple beatings and rapes by Sakura (she takes him once on the school roof, beating him up with her fists, once after knocking him out with a chair in the male bathroom(?) and once in her own home), then after they jump into a tree from the school roof, she knocks him out with a cinder-block)
It becomes increasingly obvious after chapter 7 that Susomu is plagued with schizophrenia, the result of brain-damage due to a fall from the top bunk of his bed (which used to belong to his brother takomu), and beatings at the hands of Sakura. Futhermore, it seems that Sakura liking him is also a product of his psychosis: she hates him for the first four chapters, then seems to change her mind just before the second novel.
