If I did it right, then Akashi and the others tried to do a whole "You're pregnant." lie to see how Ushio would react. However since it is apparently still March, Ushio is pregnant with the Admiral's child. Hence, Akebono's reaction.

I'd rather go for this interpretation. This being Himura's Ushio, I couldn't laugh at the joke.
