I love how today's installment of both this series and its Moomin parody have the same theme and were uploaded to Pixiv within minutes of each other.

makes you wonder if she copied Muppo for once, instead of the other way around.

I think it more likely that the two artists collaborated. Either way, yamato_nadeshiko certainly has embraced the Muppo meme.

I would assume Muppo lives in the same universe as Hoppo-chan, like polar opposites.

Hoppo-chan lives in a happy, bright and wonderful lucky world....and Muppo gets the rest of the mundane unlucky monochrome world where eating is almost as hard as life itself.

We've seen them interact. I wonder who put the koi no obori on first.

it is also possible that both author decided to do a Children Day (5th of May) related strip. Besides, it is tradition to use this fish-shaped flags the 5th of May, so it is not so far off that it is a coincidence.

On the other hand, of course it is well possible that they agreed (or inspired) each other.

From Sazanami-san's comments on the next day's image, the similarity for their Children's Day pictures was indeed a coincidence.
