Way Forward has a kickstarter going for a new Shantae game that ends on October 4th, 2013.

Will the game be any fun? who knows.
Will it be buggy? no clue.
Will it be pretty? Fo' sho'

They've got Gigidigi from Cucumber Quest (cucumber.gigidigi.com/) working on backgrounds, Mariel Cartwright the lead animator from Skullgirls doing animation,
and the guys working on the new Mega Man Mighty No. 9 game (Init Creates) involved in some way. Plus, Way Forward made Ducktales Remastered which had great sprites.

I seriously know nothing about the series and am just backing it because I like the art. Give it a look:
