Currently it's dying down.Right now there still occasionally someone saying poi in the chat,but it isn't anywhere compared to the early days where every battle isn't complete without someone spamming poi.Currently I can spend 2 hours in the game as of now and probably didn't encounter anyone saying poi at all,and chance of seeing it was about one in 30 battles..Guess the offenders are either have the almighty banhammer handed over to them or the anime effect has faded away.
Much like the artist, me and many,many fellow testers during the late Alpha/early CBT are actually annoyed by this shit.
In fairness, there doesn't seem to be a lot that World of Warships players aren't annoyed by. Presumably this is overlap from World of Tanks, where everyone hates everything at all times; it's like a massively multiplayer game populated entirely by Francis from Left 4 Dead. :)
To relief though, Shiratsuyu and by extension Yuudachi isn't in the game (speaking of which, isn't Shiratsuyu a souped up Fubuki?) because if they are or the instigator of poi be a premium, we will never hear the end of it, much like the TOG II in Tanks being acknowledged hard.
Did remember seeing a commentary for Mutsuki here that she implies wanting a buff in-game though.
I feel bad the westerns who doesn't know kancolle. Hate to admit my friend who played this, got kicked by NA or EU players saying too much "poi" or other "kancolle qoutes"

Nope - the Shiratsuyu class was an improved version of the Hatsuharu class, which was the one that came after the Special Type (Fubuki-Ayanami-Akatsuki) destroyers. The Hatsuharus were designed with the restrictions of the 1930 London Naval Treaty in mind, and so were smaller than the Special Types (which were too heavy for the IJN to keep building them under the London Treaty's rules). The Shiratsuyus were redesigned Hatsuharus that addressed the latter class's stability problems - and, incidentally, violated the London Treaty's tonnage restriction again, because by that point the Japanese government no longer gave a damn.

All the mid tier DDs honestly need to be looked at the US ones have awful torpedoes and their gun range isn't that great so all they can really do is bully the Japanese DD, who actually have worse torpedo power then their Tier 5 ship by a very significant margin and still almost unusable guns. It's only ay T8 that DDs definitely better then the T5s appear (though in the Japanese case only barely). Though this wonky crap where lower tier ships are better in almost all ways then higher tier ones isn't exclusive to DDs by any stretch.

I never understand why people think one game where they get lucky proves anything. I've watched a SINGLE shell from an Amagi insta-kill a Yamato with 95k HP left because it hit the magazine, does that make Amagi better then Yamato?
I had the Harsuharu as well... I barely used it cause the Minekaze was a vastly better DD with less then half the reload time on the same number of effectively identical torpedoes, the same number of basically equivalent guns (once the Hatsu got the hull upgrade) and a lower detectablity range and the same speed more or less. The Hatsuharu did and still does absolutely nothing better the Minekaze aside from AA... which you should have turned off at all times since AA guns count as firing weapons for spotting purposes.

Uh, no Mutsuki was even worse it's actually been buffed somewhat because it was universally agreed to be awful compared to Minekaze. It still is mind you, the nerf to torpedo reload time alone assures that.

They did buffed her? Huh don't remember that. I only remembered how much the IJN DD got nerf. And some time before OBT I rage quit, so I can't really discuss anything about it post OBT.

I don't have the CBT to compare to so I could be wrong. In OBT Mutsuki gets a turret upgrade that negates most of the removal of the 2 gun turrets of the better AA hull. And her detectability remains the same as the previous tier.

That gun upgrade didn't exist in the CBT and her detectablity was higher. Mind you upgrading the guns on a Japanese DD hardly made up for the fact that her six torpedo tubes reload at literally like half the rate of the T5 ship... That choice has really always confounded me, it's like just as ship ranges start increasing and gun power begins to skyrocket around T6 and everything is getting tougher and deadlier. That's right when the primary weapon of the DD class is drastically slashed in effectiveness by massively increasing it's reload and thus tanking it's close range DPM. The DD class is supposed to be high risk, high reward and while the risk is certainly present at T6+ the reward largely isn't due to the extremely long reload times.
DDs are quite rare at the middle tiers where they're easily at their worst, only beginning to appear again in slightly greater numbers at T9-10 where very long range torpedoes and some of the first real HP boosts since like T5 kick in and breath a bit of life back into them, but few people can endure that middle T6-8 grind and so the numbers of them you see just tank in those tiers as many, many DD players quit and most often move to cruisers which are easily at there strongest in said middle tiers (but ironically become probably worse then DDs at the T9-10 end game as firepower improvements and durability largely stagnate at T7 for cruisers while they escalate hugely for BBs and CV end up with so many planes they barely even care about cruiser AA anymore).
