I'm not sure why Shipgirls are freaking out... Except, maybe they've finally realized that their former enemies may very well have overtaken them in terms of popularity, hm?

Relax man. This isn't one of those bleak hopeless KC doujins. By the internal logic of this series (if they actually did this...), they'd probably just start dressing in skimpy black clothing and equip some Abyssal technology.
