The First Amendment to our Constitution protects all freedom of speech, including desecration of the US flag. Attempts have been made to amend the Constitution to take away that protection, but all have been unsuccessful. It's very hard to amend the Constitution, and when you come right down to it, flag-desecration doesn't actually hurt anything except feelings.

Because talking about flag desecration always makes me think of The Simpsons.

America have serious patriotism but we don't exactly have nazi rule when it comes to things like the flag. You see people wearing underwear with the American flag all the time. Hell, why do you think so many middle eastern countries like to burn our flag for shits and giggles?

Formerly, defacing the flag (including non-military or official personnel wearing it on clothing) was one of the only crimes in the US that would (originally) get you drawn and quartered.
That stood until sometime in the 60s, I believe, except the method of execution changed with the times.

Almost all of the founding fathers were in favor of this law (in fact, most of the original presidents oversaw executions relating to it).

That's one of the things that rub me the wrong way about those modern personifications of US WW2 related war-machines.
Those US flag bikini wearing ship/tank-girls and such? Yeah, completely illegal (for their time) and against every code of conduct that they would have stood by.
But I digress.

Clownpiece though is Greek, and thus not subject to American laws.

Actually Clownpiece is from Hell, but she is based on Greek spirit/fairy/whatever.
