The one on the right is the Harukaze-class destroyer Yukikaze (ゆきかぜ, DD-102), Yukikaze's "reincarnation" as a JMSDF vessel so to speak.

Kancolle manga with real-life history depicting shipgirls like victims gives me strange feelings.
Anyway, hope we never have wars again.

Unfortunately. War never changes and the cycle never ceases.

It's factually incorrect. The Yukikaze depicted here was laid down 9 years after the war ended, not decades later. And she wasn't the first in number or the first to be commissioned, that goes the lead ship of the class Harukaze DD-101. This makes it sound as if Japan had no warships for decades. coughthistoricalcoughrevisionismcough

Ah, there's a mistake with the translation. "十数年" should be "ten-odd years", not several decades.

Also, you're right that the new Yukikaze was neither the lead ship of her class, nor was she the first to be commissioned, and work on her started and ended later than Harukaze. However she was launched a month earlier than her sister ship. It could be that the author had either preferred to use the launch date instead or had mistaken the launch date for the date of commission or the date construction had completed. Or, s/he might be decided to ignore Harukaze here to make the story more emotional ;P

After being transferred, former Yukikaze now fought as the Republic of China ship Tan Yang. In the end she ran aground in Taiwan during a typhoon, before being scrapped as an old ship.

After all those decades, Yukikaze has finally been reborn. It is said that the former crew and all the repatriate soldiers who returned on her have gathered together to give her a "welcome back".

Ten-odd years have passed after the war, and restored Japan was finally allowed to build new warships. The first country-produced warship since the end of the war. For reborn Japan this escort ship would hold a special meaning. The very first escort ship that would symbolize the post-war restoration. This little girl with a displacement of just 1700 tons was named... "Yukikaze"
