Can someone tell me why this guy has so many views (on nicoseiga)? His work is mot more then average in my eyes.
Because he draws all the various Touhous with the same kind of waifu-ish personality that lets the faceless POV character get away with whatever they want while they happily/unhappily go along with/get manipulated into it. He also draws a few of them as incredible perverts besides.
Unfortunately he's also one of Danbooru's artist darlings so we're probably both going to be downvoted and hidden for bringing this up.

Also I dont seriously think it should (or will) become a shitstorm or anything People have diffrent tastes And her style just happened to tongue catch the crowd XD
Btw, does Byakuren's breasts just got bigger between UFO and HM ? I didn't remember if she had breasts that large in UFO O_O

Exactly. I go after her work because I love it. I find her style and content with the same kind of interest that Yohane does for me.
I won't bring up said shitstorm when someone disparage said work because it's just pointless to do so.
Whoops I better take my criticism hat off, forgot that's only reserved for artists nobody cares about and topics that make Danbooru posters upset like anytime an artist brings up Touhou's darker elements.
Hammer's art is cute, I'm just not crazy about his writing.
As far as her (I don't know for sure but it seems likely that it's a her) popularity goes it makes sense when you think about how regularly she uploads and how long she's been uploading. I think of it like YT, if your consistent in providing content for long enough then you build a fan base. That's my best explanation at least, to be clear I follower her on Pixiv because I find her stuff cute.

Because the art style is cute, and it's about Touhou girls having sexual relationships without being whores or sluts (except Ran). Plus it's mostly about Touhou reacting to things, and it's often original (like Cirno being clueless at first but slowly picking it up).
Hammer's art has gotten worse over time, which is something I really dislike.

I don't know if you've been looking at any of her work for the past several months/year/etc, but these have gotten incredibly stale and unoriginal. I wish she would return to her earlier style, which was much cuter and better. As it stands, this is just mass-produced, low quality, effortless shit. I know she can do better, and that's disappointing.

All this started with that "little" comment.

I will agree that it seems it used to be better. There was a really great Yukari & Yuyuko series done a long time ago. Nowadays it seems to be mostly little ero stuff. But I guess that's what gets the views... Plus a lot of the recent stuff seems hastily drawn, can't be sure if it's chibi or not with the stubby weird arms and oversized breasts.
I don't see nothing wrong with her/his style - it is still catchy and please me. And from time to time Hammer upload some higher quality stuff, or experiment with her/his artstyle.
Things would be so great, if only Danbooru didn't have that draconian rule which dictates that certain artists must have their works viewed by all viewers, and that those who don't will lose their privileges to view the artists they do enjoy!
I think we should repeal that rule, so that poor oppressed folks will no longer be forced to endure the art of artists who aren't putting enough energy into their art. Right now, decent upstanding Danbooru citizens are forced, I say absolutely FORCED by the evil authoritarianism here, to view work that they'd rather not and talk shit about anyone who is so blindered as to actually enjoy it, and that's just not right, not when they could so easily be seeking out artists of True Worth.
Hammer's stuff is cute and amusing; I don't think anyone ever put him in the same sentence as the truly great artists.

Different artists UFO had ZUN (who is infamously relucant to draw curves). But for whatever reason in HM Byakuren was the only character with curves (even Ichirin and Mamizou were drawn flattish)

I was unaware that there was any rule stating that I have to look at the art of certain artists. If you want pics by certain artists to not be posted anymore, bring it up to the uploaders themselves.
Also, I find it rather arrogant to believe that anyone who enjoys an artist you dislike is "blind" and "should seek out True Worth."

I think this was intended to be viewed as sarcasm.
Sure it was, though not instantly obvious. From what I saw over the Internet, any sarcastic remarks can and will be taken literally unless blatantly exaggerated or explicitly marked as [sarcasm] :3
I think this was intended to be viewed as sarcasm.
I guarantee you, it never occurred to me that anyone might miss the sarcasm; I thought I was putting it on far too thickly for that. I will have to learn for the future.
No, there isn't any rule dictating that everyone must view the work of "site darlings". As OMGkillitwithfire points out (thank you) the ability to guarantee you won't see posts by an artist you truly despise is built in to the site, easily usable by anyone. If you truly hate Hammer's work, and blacklist Hammer's posts, you know what the repercussions will be? None. No one will even know unless you choose to make a big deal about it.
Which means that if someone instead chooses to jump in to the comments on an artist's work and expound why that artist's work is so bad and what's wrong with that artist's fans that they mistakenly like the work of an artist so inferior - they are really making the deliberate choice to start something, and there's no justification for it.
I got big opinions on why Twilight is awful writing. It's my right to have those opinions. But if I hang out on a Twilight fan page, waiting for an opportunity to tell fans of the books how much the books suck, and what's wrong with the fans that they can't see how much they suck, and even pre-emptively whine about how my opinion is going to be downvoted because all those sheeple can't handle The Truth I'm bringing them - all of that is on me. There's no reason I couldn't have just left 'em alone to like what they like.
Whoops I better take my criticism hat off, forgot that's only reserved for artists nobody cares about and topics that make Danbooru posters upset like anytime an artist brings up Touhou's darker elements.
Other than some historical fluff, like yuyuko becoming a ghost by suicide, Touhou doesn't have dark elements. Nothing in the present-tense story is dark about touhou.
Sorry to burst your headcanon, but that's the easily observable facts. Nobody has ever died in any of the games. All dialogue concerning dark subject matters is non-literal figures of speech. All accounts of them doing "nefarious" actions is in-universe slander, usually by Akyuu with her anti-youkai bias.
Personally I blame Madoka for all this edgemastering I see in the fandom. After that series everyone is so eager to have anything with a cutesy apperance be secretly grimdark.
At least people on the ero side of the fandom, like hammer here, understand that touhou's not a sexual series. That all the ero fanart is just that, fanart and nothing more. They don't go around desperately tring to claim it's canon, they understand it's only fanfiction.

Ha, the typical "you don't agree with me therefore you don't know/haven't been looking" argument. I wasn't expecting a stupid answer like that here, but thanks for reminding me that even on Danbooru, I can find the bottom of the barrel as far as arguments go. I'd like to see things from your perspective, but unfortunately, I can't get my head so far up my ass to believe I'm always right and that whoever disagree with me have been skipping on YEARS of an artist work. Thanks for reminding me that I've been missing a lot of things and that you're so cultured and smart compared to the lowly me.

From Reimu's Storyline in Touhou 6: Embodiment of Scarlet Devil:
Remilia: You. You're the murderer.
Reimu: Don't worry, it was only one person, so it's not like I'm a serial killer.
There's also the fact that in Ending 3, Reimu gets Remilia in a pin and exposes her to sunlight, only stopping when Remilia informs her that the ashes of her body would make Reimu an immortal.
And Yuyuko has eaten Mystia, Kaguya and Mokou engage in brutal fights every day...
Gensokyo is a very harsh world where the strong control the weak, and survival of the fittest reigns supreme. The ending of Symposium of Post-mysticism is another interesting read, especially the end where Reimu breaks up the meeting at the request of the human villagers. http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Symposium_of_Post-mysticism/Part_6
Quite honestly, the best way to live in Gensokyo is to keep your head down and not cause trouble.

Holy shit man calm down
Seriously, that response is way too much for a harmless opinion. Her art has become pretty rough lately (likely the result of pumping out quicker drawings in a shorter time, but I could be wrong), and it usually revolves around the same "Touhous React!™" schtick over and over. It just feels (and looks) like junk/filler content. You can vote this down if you disagree, but please don't bite my head off for it.

Oh boy its time for this conversation again. Oh wait, we already had it in post #2263800 where myself and a few other posters already talked about it.
I'm not saying Touhou is chock full of UrghGrimDarkdeadpeopleeverywhere shit, just that it has a number of underlying aspects that prevent it from going full sugar and rainbows slice of life. The problem is that ZUN is so obnoxiously subtle about it that its easy to overlook.
The stuff we've seen in the more recent official manga though should have been enough to drive it home though that there's more to Touhou than just cute girls doing cute things.
Indeed, Touhou is not quite grimdark edgy stuff. but there's quite a big number of some more serious things. From human cuisine in SDM to Reimu killing a man in Forbidden Scrollery.
And guys, so-called "taste" is quite a personal stuff and because of this it's not the best reason to start a fight. Hammer's artstyle is quite a simplistic one, but this simplistic artstyle with bright colors is just ideal for his/her/whatever works. I can't imagine Byakuren talking about her tits in artstyle of... lets see... Ke-Ta?
I though that was the norm in Japanese stuff. You know, some overly serious introduction about the past of a grim world they live in, then next we have girls and comical heroes doing cute things for the sake of comedy. That's how anime and manga has been since the 80s and even older. Why are you discussing about grim things in Touhou fiction again? Just for unnecessary splitting hairs? Obviously they have to talk about dead and sacrifices at some point. How else would they justify immortality, ghosts, demons and heaven beings?
NOTE: Not inferring Touhou is a comedy, only using it as an example.
Whatever's happening here? Talk about disparity between pic and comments.

Ke-Ta's arts barely has any texts accompanying it though. Nor has he ever drew Byakuren.
Jesus Christ, so it didn't become a shitstorm about the pic itself after all XD
And, yeah, about the whole "grimm dark" thing, may be you can check this page (Search for the phrase "Okay... how exactly is Gensokyo a "peaceful paradise"? ", it is near the top of the page) ... I think it covered alot of things you want about the topic already (If you really want a civilized argument, that is)
P/s: A pic w Byakuren talking about her tits in Ke-Ta's stuff will be pretty brutal imo XD (Try Satou Kibi ... ;) )
Also, god damn it Owmyhead, you mentioned about posts being hidden, and mine got hidden XD (j/k)

I mean Ke-ta's artstyle - artisticaly high-quality pics with a lot of details would not work with Hammer's commentary. On the other hand, this clumsy, fast-drawn style is just perfect here.
People complaints about Hammer's artstyle, but don't see that it just work thematicaly with his/her pictures.

Personally I'm very proud of my blacklist. I daresay half the "artists" on this site are on it.
In any case, hammer's in the same situation as colonel aki: Constant situations of moeblobs getting into cute antics without anything threatening occurring.
At least Hammer acknowledges that her work is without substance
