But why should it enter a battlefield? I mean, look at the design; that thing wasn't designed to be even MOVING The joints on the arm and the hips are too thin to be even hold the spacecraft/giant robo together It'll already a miracle if the arms can even move in zero gravity with that support; not to mention the fragility of solar panels.

You're thinking about this too rationally (and realistically) where we have funnels and bits that move based on one mind power and some how hold enough fuel in them to not only move but shoot lasers constantly for hours on end in battle.

The thickness of the joins and arms should be the least of your worries. As for why it shoudl enter the battlefield, I'd assume as a last resort if the colony itself came under fire and needed to defend itself.

    Uh.

The O'Neill cylinders. What would you think happened to the humans inside if the thing started moving? The colony being attacked is a far better scenario than subjecting the population with what would be the equivalent of blender tectonic quake.

Uhh well I think it's interesting to see this colony finally got a defensive base as the colony mecha since the mecha shows usually show many colonies being attacked in any situations. But honestly, it's kinda bad idea.

Sees people using real world physics and logic as an example for a picture of an O'Neill cylinders Mecha... It's an O'Neill cylinders mecha guys real world physics and logic have already been thrown out the window.

Pretty much this. Is it too much of a suspension of disbelief to for whatever fictional universe this is set in to simply say "we have anti-don't worry about it shit" inside the colony area(as well as some sort of blast barrier)?

Hell, look at the Macross series. The amount of ship whiplash the singer girls are getting when their on their concert planes should have snaped their necks. But it doesn't due to technology/magic that is either said or unsaid in that universe.

Oh so that giant robot I saw some years ago in random anime video. Thx. Now I know the name of that fortress.
