Gonna need more clearance on that turret there, Erika.

I could only find info on the Panzer V/IV from World of Tanks. It's apparently a prototype unit, mating a Pz.IV turret to the Panther hull for testing purposes. Only one prototype was built, plus it was just a stationary test unit.

It served as a command tank with the schwere Heeres Panzerjager Abteilung 653 on the eastern fronts.

It basically was one of many "Hey we have this hull and this turret lets smash them together." style of frontline conversions.
So in a way, I guess one could call it a Prototype.

It's noteworthy that due to being a field conversion and only being used as a command tank the turret is fixed and can't traverse.

The name Pzkpfw V/IV is a name that was given to it later, officially no name exists for it and it's likely just one of the Befehlswagen or Bergepanzer Panther mentioned in the 653rd's documents.

Well, the Pz IV turret and the Panther hull doesn't have matching turret rings, so of course they would have to make the turret stationary. Also, dummy guns were common on command tanks, because command tanks need room for a lot of radios and maps and stuff and therefore doesn't have room for a cannon breach. Also, they shouldn't be fighting, but if it doesn't have a cannon then it's obviously a command tanks and become a prime target for the enemy.
