A Queadluun Rau type battle suit piloted by Millia Fallyna infiltrates the SDF-1 Macross in episode 18, originally airing in February 1983. Even 25 years later it's an impressive sequence in a show that was marred by poor animation in a number of scenes.

It was released in 1982 and for its time the animation was very good. It was all hand made, without any of the advantages computers provide these days (I'm refering to the excess of CGI and other tools that have made animators more lazy and less talented or innovative today).
Also, the designs in the original Macross are superior to those in many other real robot mecha anime series released later.
