According to Google Translate on the commentary, she's eating "Japariman". Googling that it appears to be some kind of bun with filling. But if you remove one hiragana too few, Google translates it to "Japari Man"...

Yeah, the "Japari Bun" is a sort of universal foodstuff, the in-story explanation for why the predator Friends don't spend all their time killing and eating the herbivore ones. I reckon that (along with the cross-language pun) is the joke.

I stand by my jelly donut interpretation, however. :)
