Yup, every event in a nutshell

Had the same problem with kaga, though the Type 97 weakness really helped. Didn't even have a CAV for E4H because I idiotically locked them all at E3 while swapping ships around to farm at a cheaper price. Had to use Teste and ooyodo instead(dropped ooyodo after the the information on the 97s was discovered). Watching Teste knock Northernmost down to 1hp during a failed last dance run was pretty heart breaking, granted that was only the 14th run, but heart breaking nonetheless...and then Shoukaku just knocks her out during daybattle two runs afterwards.

See, this is why I'm glad I play on easy. Well, not that I really have any choice, having started only little over a month ago... That being said, dumping two LBAS worth of Torpedo bombers at her fleet, than sending in four carrier's worth of Type 97s makes it a charm. Thanks for the free Souryu Esocrt Princess Hime... well, she's Kasuga Maru now. ;)

...Regrettably, I didn't use any of the Type 97s. Just the girls brute-forcing their way in with Tenzan Muratas since all the other ships were dead by the time second shelling happened.

Actually E4 hard is quite easy for old players. Boss is never trouble...getting THERE is the problem if you don't have a decent subs.

No, only in the the last map.
This map had the second battle node that could heavily damage the SS, but the third battle node (2BB 4DD in line ahead) had very few chance to hit it, so advancing with an heavily damaged SS (equipped with a damecon) was ok. That's what I did, and I didn't even consume a damecon (I had 1 retreat because 1BB was able to one-shot Kaga, though).
