You shouldn't forget that she's a brawler Mario.

That being said I still don't know how she keeps getting herself kidnapped when she has on more than one occasion handed Bowser his spikey shell.

Then again Mario and the gang kart with bowser and the like so maybe Peach just goes through the motions.

Miyamoto himself said that Mario et al are actors, and the games are all stage plays with actors playing the part of characters who share their respective names. He specifically referenced the old Bugs Bunny cartoons.

It's the reason why Peach would get kidnapped by Bowser and rescued by Mario one day, and then the next day they'd play a round of golf or go karting like nothing untoward had happened.

So THAT's why I always think of this scene when Mario hits the goal tape at the end of a level and trots off to the side.
