Paramount has acquired the rights if I recall in news several days ago..

Makes you wonder how the outcome will be, I believe 100% the miko and sake scene will be replaced with some original story, that and the age difference will somehow changed.

Street Fighter was the greatest movie ever made in every scene with Raul Julia in it. The only one who took his role seriously.

I think Kimi no Na Wa can be translated kinda fine though. The issue I see with other adaptations lies more in trying to compress 20+ episodes of animes into a 2 hour movie, which kinda forces them to try and bullshit up a new story altogether(Death Note, DBE) or made the plot and themes extremely paper thin(Ghost in Shell, Jojo).

If it was 2 hours movie > 2 hours movie. I think eh, it might be workable. Still very pointless, but I guess you can still make something competent.

Dragon Ball Evolution failed so hard as an adaptation of Dragon Ball. The same thing might happen to Kimi no Na Wa and I imagine Goku saying “It’s your turn”
