Vietnam is supposed to be tropical too. But it snows here. Only rarely and only to the Northern side. But lately, even the southern side gets cold too. So I guess as long as it's too out of normal, it can happen. This here is definitely one of those moments.

Maybe Abyssals are going to appear...?

It's more likely that the snow is magic/otherwise completely unnatural if it's going to be a plotpoint that actually successfully derails the conversation. Either he's actually dreaming, or it's some sort of abyssal raid that brings snow with it wherever it goes.

Probably because there are mountain ranges close. In Colombia, at the coastal regions, it would never fall snow. If it is a tropical island then it would be even stranger to be snow there.

It is. It's exactly because of the mountain ranges that we don't get colder and more snow in winter. They block all the cold from China in northern Vietnam so yeah. But reason why we are in tropical range, but still have snow is because we are highly affected by where the wind blowing through our land comes from. If it's hot and dry (south west), we have desert. If it's hot and humid, we have rain (heavy ones). And if it's cold and dry, we have cold winter (around 17 Celcius). I believe it's called monsoon climate. Well, I don't actually know the terminologies for them in English, but I believe so.
