Randomly found this series and i can't be more thankful for it, easily my best find of the month. I'll be eagerly waiting for more.

So, it turns out that not only does popcorn exist in Japan, there was even a rash of gourmet popcorn shops opening up along Omotesando, Shibuya back in 2015. Granted, those would be quite a bit fancier than what you'd expect at a movie theater, but it does suggest that missing the movie would be a shame on that front... ;~:

On the bright side, Mahiro gets to rest off the strain from this trip now!
