As noted before, Santa won't come if you're awake even if you're otherwise a good girl, so making Santa think you're awake when you're not is a counterproductive strategy. Most likely, if she doesn't notice, it's because she's so tired she's delirious from lack of sleep and not paying attention to her surroundings enough to react immediately.
