Ah, yes. The Japanese and their low tables. Much better as benches.

Doesn't the Finns take their shoes off indoors? I think only the dirty Americans wear shoes indoors. Mika is trying to act like a Finn and failing.

EDIT: I said "dirty Americans" jokingly, because wearing shoes indoors is dirty. I'm not saying that all Americans are dirty. I understand that this has offended people and I'm sorry.

Does anyone but the Japanese have that step up into the house where you're supposed to take your shoes off. A foreigner could be confused and think the entrance room where you leave the shoes is on the elevated level.

Actually no, I don't wear my shoes indoors. In fact, nobody I know likes to have people wear their shoes in the house. See what happens when you make a broad generalization?

How many non-Americans are involved in "only Americans"?

I was one of those who believed not wearing shoes indoors was a Japanese only thing. Yet in less than 5 years I've met Turks and Mexicans without even a slight knowledge about Japan who do the same. If you ever visit southeast of Mexico, local population take off their shoes when indoors.

That's a joke based on the fact that they wear shoes indoors. Don't get offended over something tiny like that.

Most of the world does. You don't want to drag in dirt and dog shit on your floors and carpets.

Never heard of any other place and I seriously doubt it. Not in people's homes at least. Public buildings, businesses, barracks, hotels, ect. don't count of course.

We don't wear shoes around the house here in my HOME.
But as far as I know, people do walk around with shoes on at home here in Brazil.

Heck, I sometimes had to insist the guests remove their shoes when they resisted the idea.
