I can't take her seriously, but that's kinda what I love about canon Iowa. She's just such a ridiculous stereotype. Though, I am glad that Sara, Intrepid, and to a lesser extent Bay went in completely different directions- we only need one Iowa, thank you very much. (I'd personally be ecstatic if the next American ship weren't even white, though I know that the chances of that are minuscule).

Azur Lane has the Native American South Dakota who looks amazing and we could use more Native American ship girls. Although as a Hispanic I have no desire to see a Mexican ship let alone any others. Native American and White really is all you need anything else is doomed to be forgotten if ever added. The Japanese barely even care for American characters in general, having them being anything but white is killing them before they even have a chance. It's sad to hear but that's just how it is. Almost all dark skinned characters in anything japan related aren't even black or any other dark skinned race, they just have the dark skin, that's pretty telling.
Both Iowas are fine, and the Ryunn-verse could use an innocent boatgirl (to offset some the crazier/lustier personalities); not that there's a big change from canon Iowa there.

It's not just the glasses, it's how you wear them.
Sometimes the same for how you look on them. Face of Iowa here for me is saying somethimg like "i wanna go somewhere else" or "are there people nearby?" kind of face. But either way she really looks like a nerd here.

We weren't the first fifty times he stated the same given the chance and when no one asked for his opinion. Not even an aspie is that persistent to get a point across. He doesn't like what he can't predict or search in Google, we got it already. There's not need to spam the same over and over.
Even with ryun's earlier comic with the lewd Intrepid & Sara, I have no idea how she could be interpreted as this reserved/nerdy when she wears, and rocks her body with, that revealing outfit, has stars in her eyes, regularly clamors with her addomiilol enough to make Kongou jelly, etc.
People in fandom love gaps. Iowa is good enough for a candidate trying too hard in order to hide the opposite. Like for example, the typical teaser virgin talking aloud about how experienced is about sex. Ask Suzuya.
I know what you mean and can actually find it kinda funny in Suzuya's case, but can't do the same with Iowa... the gap is just too big, I can't buy it. That said, I'm kinda interested with what ryuun does with his nerdy Iowa.

I think the thing that limits her art is being in the PVP shop exclusively. AL shipgirls tend to get fanart in proportion to their accessibility (thus when say a ship gets added to jp AL, her fanart increase sharply.)
