as RNGCombo said, creativity. Same could be said for Artist. There are alot of good Doujin artist, but alot of them arent good enough to create their own stories. Some Doujin circles spend their whole loves making Doujins because they just cant think of a good original story. While you have writers with alot of creative spark who cant draw to save their lives. Although, thats why we have light novels and such.
