I view it as a fanart ramp-up to the robe they make her wear in The After.
There's a smaller version you mouse over on the site that shows this, then when you mouse over it it adds the red triangles from the original white mage robe. I considered adding that version instead at first. I might go back and add the version with the red triangles anyway.
