I can't wait until the brainwashing breaks and then the idiots who decided this was a good idea are facing an army they've armed and given a reason to want to turn on them.

You know what Darwin said: the weak die, the strong survive. Darwin is a real rotter in wartime... feeling sympathy for your enemy tends to get you killed.

It's the abyssal scum's fault they get this treatment. They shouldn't have invaded Germany's personal vacation resort: Italia.

They're not the ones bombing the city to "save" it. The Abyssals were apparently there peacefully.

That looks more like Imperial Japanese Army forces invading Italy. They're the ones shelling buildings in a previously undamaged city.

That presumes that war, especially modern war, determines who lives and who dies based upon a soldier's natural talent and skill, rather than most people dying just because they happened to be where an artillery shell happened to land.

So, when do we get LCVPs in-game for Gamby?

Or, perhaps, DD Shermans to complement the Ka-Mi tanks.

True but hesitating to pull the trigger when staring down an enemy because you feel sorry for him could have disastrous consequences. Even when that "enemy" is a clueless 10-year-old boy with explosives strapped to his chest and his mother holding the detonator. I wish that scenario was purely hypothetical but it has happened in Iraq. Imagine what it's like for the US soldiers who had to pull the trigger in those situations.

Think about this for a moment: why would the Dock Princess call Genoa, the busiest port in Italy, a "quiet" place? What happened to its inhabitants? Where did the Supply Port Princess get her supplies?

Obviously they did what all invaders do: kill and sell. We're just there to take back what our kind has worked hard to build.

This sympathy for Abyssals sometimes gets out of hand, I find (yes, I know it's fiction and a game, but still =P). It may have been better if KanColle implements features like population casualty reports from Abyssal incursions and Abyssal attacks on our base(s) so that players, at least, can get a better idea what we're dealing with.

In that case we might see LVT(A)-1 or -4 first before DD Shermans, since it the closest equivalent of Ka-Mi.

    They won't go that far.
Kancolle is where it is right now because of its lack of a proper "background story". Giving anything that hints at something in the background for the game will make it going to be just some other game of the surplus of games by the same kind out there.
They might give a little bit of story when it's not going to hold anymore though. Or so I suspect.

Intention or not, just based on the event missions brief and dialogue, you can catch a glimpse of how bad the situation be.

The abyssal is so powerful, they can place blockage all over the world and all the major military power like the USA, Russia, China, EU could do nothing to break that blockage.

Since sea trading is the main and largely used mode of international transport, you can imagine how bad it would affect the global economy, especially country that is isolated like Japan.

ANd yet, those are all but glimpses and clues, not solid story line bits or parts.
But then, if they start throwing in some more casualty reports, it's going to look much more clearer which, I would say they wouldn't do. Since Japaneses like keeping vague things vague to the end.

Isn't that the same as the Arpeggio Universe then if true? If this was so, Abyssals should be winning far more battles since Arpeggio ships can literally roflstomp virtually 99.9% of the universe's current military.

Although Darwin didn't actually promote the strong will survive. He promoted survival of the fittest. One could be strong but if you are just happening to lack some condition necessary for your surroundings, you will perish regardless. Of course, sympathy for the enemy is certainly a poorly adapted trait to the battlefield. In that sense you are right, those unable to fight with full force are marked for death.

That is much closer to Darwin's actual perspective. Survival is a mix of one's abilities and luck. That said it takes effort to get lady luck's blessings so neither component can be dismissed. Someone once told me the outcome of every battle is predetermined by the preparation done before the first contact and as far as I am aware, that is very true. The kid who doesn't study for a test may do well, but the odds are stacked against him.

The irony though is that the more competent you are, the riskier tasks you are probably going to be given, making your chance of survival probably the same as everyone else.
