    Hang in There, Kogasa-san 2894

We were there for about an hour, and reading and viewing the materials on display, imagining the fierce spectacles of the past, we became quite gloomy. The gap between this and our surroundings when we exited the facility had us smiling a bit, though. (^^;)

We made flower offerings at the Himeyuri Monument and then left.

Kogasa-san has less empathy than Sanae, as expected of a youkai.

A little context is needed here, so forgive the Wiki TL/DR that follows. The monument they went to see is a monument to the Himeyuri Students and their teachers, who were sent to act as nurses for the IJA during the Battle of Okinawa. They went in thinking that the IJA would quickly emerge victorious and they would be back at school within weeks. Instead, they labored for three months under desperate conditions, performing surgery and other procedures to try and keep soldiers alive. 222 students and 18 teachers went to the front. A total of 117 returned. Most casualties occurred only after the unit was officially dissolved, including a number of suicides committed by grenade or by cliff.

A man's gotta eat when a man's gotta eat, the tragedies of the past be respectfully damned.

I just realized that he's been doing this comic for just over eight years now.

Also, I looked at my account creation date for this site, and its almost 10 years ago... Damn i'm old.

and the water itself stank horribly...
    History
After we visit the Himeyuri Monument, shall we go eat?
    Roger that!
    The Himeyuri Monument...
We were horrendously thirsty. There was no water, so we tried drinking from puddles on the ground.
    but we drank it...
    .... Yeah.
    Wanna go eat?
Corpses had rolled into it, and it was filled with maggots...
    That was pretty heavy stuff...
I don't think I have an appetite now...
    How about some souvenirs?
