I'd reckon nobody knew about that purple thing hanging in 1st panel, so it's trivia time. The name of that fruit is Akebi, which looks like a strange cross between passion fruit, pear and eggplant. All parts of the fruit is edible, and tastes like a rather bland melon.

Double trivia: on Hakumei to Mikochi's ED song, the fruit is mentioned briefly as 'akebi-iro', which points to a specific time pre-dawn/past dusk when the color of the sky turned pale lavender.
