    Hang in There, Kogasa-san 2945

When I go on expeditions, I travel so that I'm on the highway during this time period as much as possible. All you have to do is travel the highway during this time, and since the discount is applied based on when you enter and exit, it can be pretty huge, indeed, for long-distance trips. There are roads like the Tokyo Metro Expressway that haven't adopted this, so be careful!

And so, today ends the Kanazawa Expedition 2018 chapter. I actually wanted to complete it by the end of 2018, but I goofed on the reading! :-)

Reader-added tags include "Shopping at warp speed", "The discount amount's going into my stomach (attempted)", "No escape from sashimi konjac when you get home".

I always wonder what sorts of other things you can do at rest stops besides eat, given my experiences with them in NA.

There's a lot things shown off in this article. Though I'd say most are normally just the ones that are kinda scenic and sell local gift food.

Bacon-Potato bombs? Is that a Patton Oswalt reference?

That's where I first heard of it. ("At Black Angus, your name is 'Peaches'." Still cracks me up.)

However, I looked up the term just to be sure it was a proper equivalent to jaga bee (じゃがベー, from jaga (potato) + the "ba" of "bacon"), and it seems to be, so I went with that. Mainly, I didn't want to deal with the ambiguous pronunciation of the romanized "jaga bee". :-)

Makes sense. Just curious if it was an actual Mizuki thing or a fun translation joke. Either were possible.

    Eat snacks and stuff.
Forget it, you'll just eat away our discount.
Don't go buying bacon-potato bombs out of nowhere.
All right, we'll kill some time here.
    It's Pretty Big
10:00 p.m., the Takasaka Service Area (inbound)...
Eh? We've come back this far, and we're not going home?
It's only a little farther to the Tokorozawa Interchange.
You get a late-night discount if you travel the highway between midnight and 4:00 a.m.
    Really? How much is it?
    30% off!
Well, what shall we do to waste time, then?
