  • i went for repairs, they said it had motherboard problems and they should be able to fix it!

but still it kinda saddens me because it did its job carrying me through university for 6 years and it finally showed signs of its life ending after the job's done

Not as bad as filled-with-crapware HP.

I've never really had any unexpected problems with Asus equipment...just deaths from old age, really.

EDIT: The one depicted here is apparently 6 years old and a veteran of university, so it did pretty well for a laptop.

Asus sells a lot of hardware, so even at industry-standard failure rates they will have failures that you hear about.
Asus is my go-to brand for motherboards and graphics cards though.

It's a good middling brand. They aren't especially bad in any areas for the price.

Come to think of it my motherboard and PC toward is Asus and it has lasted me years. The only problems I have had is with hardware upgrades that were added on later and not part of Asus. I shall put my trust in them! A shame for Miwol still. Hang in there!

    I'm so feel him.
I've had Toshiba laptop, that has been bought in early 2010's. It pulled me through 5 years of institute, then after graduation I was drafted into army, where shortly I've got myself desk jockey job and the laptop was literally my workplace for the rest of term. A year after army service laptop just ceased to work. People said it was power management failure and south bridge is busted.
Well after all abuse and loads it went through I can say it served me long and well.

I have a 13-year-old Asus motherboard that's still going strong with a (Western Digital) HDD that apparently has over 4400 power-on days (12 years of on time). Asus was what I was recommended when building my computers when I started out, and they really haven't failed me, yet.
