    Hang in There, Kogasa-san 3304

Well, I think of it as educational costs! (^^;)

I was planning the needed parts one after another while making this thing, so I didn't know from the start how much of what I would need.

I've been using the completed drill press this whole time, and it hasn't been the least bit shaky, so I'm pretty much satisfied. I also made sure to have space to put in a box to catch the shavings! It's light, so it's very portable, which is great.

I wanted the drill press I spotted in the last strip, but being what it is, it's fricking heavy. It's apparently convenient for drilling big holes in lumber, but I don't think I'll be using it like that, so I didn't buy it. (^^;)

I dunno it's kinda difficult in the West. Online it's Amazon of the Cursed Earth, or chancy eBay, or a number of unpleasant big stores that automatically charge double whatever evil Amazon charge.

And on the ground all the small ironmongers where one could buy screws etc. were long driven out of business; leaving here two identical superstores, either Homebase or B&Q. Recently looked for a ceramic sink repair kit, turned out to be imported from Germany, £43... Will no doubt double after Brexit...

And Homebase charged £9 for a handful of Steel Wool [ also a German invention I believe ], which was £3 in B&Q.

Thing is, it's all a crapshoot now.

It's a "bird in the hand" thing. I know that if I was in that position, where I find I need to go to a store up the wholesale chain for some items, there's a dilemma. If I choose not to buy anything here, they might also not have everything there (so I'd have to come back). If I buy anything here, there's a good chance they have it there cheaper in bulk. Best option: buy the bulk screws as well and average down your cost (it ends up being 84 screws for a price only 1 yen more per than if he had bought bulk alone). They're non-perishable, and he seems to do a lot of projects so he'll use them.

    Screws - 77 ct. ¥398
    Was Better Off Not Knowing
    At the usual hardware store....
Well, the price is probably determined by weight...
Still, it's iffy and disgusting for seven screws to run just under ¥120.
Oh, there's some parts they don't sell here.
Guess I'll go to an industrial store.
    It's kind of far, though.
    At the industrial store...
    Sob Sob
    Sniffle
Size of screws he uses in bulk.
