(Koizumi keeps trying to hook up Haruhi and Kyon with each other because he believes it will make him not have to fight Celestials all the time. See Volume 7 of the Haruhi-chan manga, page 91, for an example. It's hard to be sure whether the approach would work though, as most people's underlying issues don't seem to be solved that way.)
