I just want to reassure to any future viewers of this clip, that this doesn't contain even a single jumpscare.

For a good while now I have been trying to think up a survival horror exploration game set in the Arai-san Mansion apartment.

Maybe some light resource management like collection tools and weapons to progress. Maybe catching rats while exploring to keep Rat Bottle stocked up.

Perhaps a team management system with each Otter team mate having their own unique abilities. Mask being the fighter who takes point to explore and try to fend off threats. Map keeps the team informed of their whereabouts keeping them from getting lost and also suggesting alternate routes to avoid danger. Rat Bottle can set up distractions and disarm traps while also using her rats to test potentially dangerous areas.

If any member of the team is killed the others can press on if they choose but with handicaps. Without Map the team may get lost on floors if the layout is warped by an anomaly. Without Rat Bottle they may have to walk blindly into possible danger without being able test for or disarm threats.

If they don't want any of that they have to try and navigate back to the cloning room to revive their lost team mates.

Something exactly like this exists, a survival horror game called "Duskers", where you control drones in abandoned spaceships, each drone having specific roles (which you equip them with), like fighter, explorer, trapper etc. It's a fucking amazing game, and I think it's desing could be directly implemented to Raccoon Mansion with the otters being the "drones".

Oh, judging by the translated commentary is this artist actually making a VR exploration experience/game out of the series? Have high expectations for this if so. Would that make this "funded"?

Some people still reminiscing about the canceled Silent Hill game that Hideo Kojima was on I see? I still hear people that are quite sore about that one from time to time. It's a real shame what happened to it. The P.T. demo was one of the most meme'd on and parodied horror games the year after it came out despite not even being a complete experience. Konami struck pure gold and they squandered it.

It's a shame what happened to Silent Hill itself. The Silent Hill games were always such strange and surreal beasts with some really great and memorable sets, and is still a horror game icon to this day. Sadly relegated to Konami's pachinko slot collection.

    On that note,

If you're serious, I would really recommend picking up and reviewing Silent Hill 4: The Room for homework. Also, Parasite Eve; mostly for aesthetics. They both have some really great modern horror set pieces and presentation ideas to get the gears going, especially with the "strange things going on in a normal place" and "not every horror is dark" kind of feelings. The Silent Hill tradition of fighting off eldritch horrors using sticks, clubs, batons, and hammers falls right in with the otter team's capabilities.

The series also does make good use of grunge, so I'd also recommend at least looking at a review or playthrough for Condemned: Criminal Origins and Condemned: Bloodshot. They aren't my favorite choices, but they do have a couple of real nifty sets and good use of grunge. The police station level in the second one is good hit in a hit and miss game.

I hope this isn't the case, as the maker of this made progress on this project, and it is still ongoing..

EDIT: after some research, I found out that the artist published this video on march 31, not april 1. It only got uploaded here on april 1.

Don't scare me. I want to see this project come to fruition.
