I thought the argument was supposed to be that women don't wear makeup or other fashion accessories for the sake of pleasing men, but for their own selves.
Also, that tights are a nice low-profile way to keep warmer when wearing a skirt.

I often wonder with people who think like that, if they were bullied to the point of extreme self-loathing. It almost seems kindof sad to think that way that the only reason someone can be attractive is some “horrible ploy” to attract the other gender, rather than the idea of just wanting to feel good about themselves.
Is it really so strange to want to look good? Why has it become such a crime in the eyes of people to want to be “attractive” or sexy? Is it really so weird that certain people just want to be able to dress well, look in the mirror and be able to admire themselves as well as maybe be praised by others if they step outside?
Is that really shallow? Or is it more shallow to force everyone into a lower standard just because you do not have confidence in your own appearance, thus feel the need to drag everyone else into the mud rather than first learn to love yourself then take a step to further better yourself not for the sake of others but because you want to.
I speak of this as someone who somewhat understands, since all my life I’ve been bullied for my appearance. There are times I do find myself hating people who look good yes, but never have I had the thought of screaming that everyone should look the same as me (no one should have to suffer such cruelty.)
I’m not sure what the people who do such outcry are hoping to accomplish. Are they feeling oppress that they MUST wear certain clothes for people to look at them, despite constantly telling people to not look at them? Or are they just angry that certain people are allowed to wear or look a certain way because they’re allowed to or just want to?
Or is it just the self-hatred clouding them to the point that they are hoping to do the very thing they’re fighting for, attempting to suppress people’s rights to dress how they want or to wear what they think look good? I really don’t understand.
