This is something that really bothers me with these anime waifu gatcha games.
I understand going for the fanservice angle since sex sells and all that but then it starts hitting that borderline and then seems to find ways to push it that little bit further. At that point I can't help but think "Just make it a hentai game already!".
I remember a lot of people myself included really wanted Yabuki Kentarou to turn To Love-ru into a full R18 manga with all the fanservice he was pushing.
Obviously AL and other games like it won't go R18 since they want to keep that horny teen audience, at least we have the fanarts and doujins. There are also some waifu gatcha games that are R18 out there usually based of existing eroge.

If you want a kancolle type of game that is hentai based, there is a Tank girl game where you (the commander) sex up the girls once you hit max affection.

You also forgot the fact that AL is from China, where R18 games are literally illegal. AL is pretty much the most erotic thing the Chinese government allows you to sell publically, and CN version still need censorships.

I have never played any of these games myself, not a lot of free time to devote to playing and wary of the potential money sink. I know many of these games are free play to play but I hear some can be more of a grind without spending money. I prefer to just partake of the wonderful art and doujins these games inspire.

I often end up trying to ignore most news about China as it usually makes me depressed and annoyed when I hear about it.
