This was trying to use copier toner as an etching mask for the printed circuit. The circuit board's photosensitizer is useless after one use, but I could use copper surface itself as normal, so I managed!
Back in the day, we'd also leased a color laser printer, but we returned it and it's no longer available, so off to the convenience store I go!
