Agreed, but I hate Youko in schoolgirl costume, why do people insist in drawing her like that. She only wears those for the three first episodes(honestly the first novel is very subpar compared to the others).

I guess cause it's so casual. Don't know how to describe it.
It just seems fitting for her to wear, rather than "omg! so kawaii serafuku desu!!"

i have to agree with unicogirl on that. the uniform seemed more like a metaphor of her not accepting the strange new world she came into. even though it was held on briefly, but that was when her outlook on things was beginning to change little by little.

You should be happy that at least some people insist in drawing her at all, there isn't nearly as much Twelve Kingdoms pics as there should be.

For me, it feels like the artists are being more like "omg! so kawaii serafuku desu!!", as unicogirl said. I'm sure everyone who is familiar with this masterpiece prefers Youko after she develops her character and accepts the new world, which is her real home. It feels like the artists are saying "screw character development, I prefer schoolgirls ^_____^".

Yeah, that was pretty much my impression. (Which is not to say that it's a bad picture.)
