Ok, I am not sure what to tag this at as I am quite unsure of what the hell I am looking at here.

Probably inspired by Sacculina, a kind of barnacle that parasitises crabs, replacing their reproductive organs and infesting their bodies with root-like tendrils. Another great reason why treating nature as pure and sacred is ridiculous. It is what it is, just like humanity.

According to that article the sacculina parasites both male and female crabs, though interestingly it seems to do strange things to the biology of male crabs, to the point that when the parasite is removed the male crab’s reproductive organs will regenerate as ovaries.
